Only of interest to a few hems ppruners,I suppose, but got to the bottom of the strange EMAS "selection" proceedure for the new Derby/Leics/Rutland air ambo.

EMAS has already got about 10 of its own NHS paramedics on the several air ambulances serving its area. They really didn't want to lend any more.

Only Warwick/Northants charity would set up an operation with 1 EMAS paramedic and 1 doctor per day. The other local air ambulance charities would require 2 EMAS paramedics per day. So EMAS 'save' 4 paramedics. That's why they didn't even bother asking the other charities!

The reason they will get a 109 at East Mids is that's the sort Warwick/Northants are presently operating.

The only 109 air ambulance operation out of 24 air ambulances in England and Wales. Shows how popular they are as air ambulances!

(Curious how the Warwick/ Northants charity CEO and the MD of the local Augusta dealership appear to be associated with the same Chamber of Commerce! )
