I have heard from several sources recently that most of the bush strips we used to work are now overgrown and abandoned. How can a Govt ignore the isolatation such a high % of the countries population and grass roots economy?

Chuckles I've heard the same thing myself; my opinion is stated above.
But really gets my ire going is the knowlege that whilst the 'grass roots' economy suffers as they are, the Political 'elite' (I use the term in a sarcastic manner) continue to line their pockets at the expense of the Australian taxpayer.

I have mentioned it in previous posts but even back in the early 90s when I regularly did the 'dawn patrol' out to the Jungles I was often asked by some of the elderly villagers....
''When taim bilong Masta come back?''
A pity it never will.
