Why would this all be a massive conspiracy to get us to pay more taxes? Governments dont tax us for their own entertainment, they tax us either to pay for public services, or
to change behaviour Thats why cigarettes are 3 or 4 times the price they were when I used to smoke, thats why there is a congestion charge in London. Educating the public that smoking and heavy traffic are bad things achieves nothing. Nobody will change until it hurts financially enough not to do so.
