Sounds about right.

I was involved with one myself when I was an apprentice. We had the labourious task of removing and reapplying the sealant between all the skin panels. Tedious as watching golf IMHO.

All a/c are subject to repainting criteria it's just that the Bent Nail was very particular when it came to paint (and most other things to be fair). Especially the weight penalty, the fact that the paint needed to stick at high speed/temp and that the beast leaked like a sieve and needed recoats at every turnround. Well almost.
