Endeavouring to 'keep it simple' in my turn, PK-KAR.

Had they been able to deploy the spoilers manually, 'worst case' is that they'd have come off the end at much lower (probably surviveable) speed. 'Best case' is that they'd have had more time to work out what had gone wrong and maybe even manage to stop on the runway.

That's exactly what the 'puter DIDN'T do - as Bubbers and I pointed out. It just made things a damn sight worse by making sure that they didn't have spoilers OR autobrakes - and then didn't even give them any sort of warning as to what was wrong.......
