RAFG Laarbruch-Weeze, ETUL, opened in November 1954. The base hosted as many as 5 squadrons, and operated until May, 1999.
The airport re-opened in 2003 as Niederrhein Airport, EDLV, and has been called Airport Weeze. Ryanair was the first scheduled carrier to operate from the aerodrome.
