From someone who has been in Kuwait since just after the Liberation in 1991, I would advise you that the country is stable, most of the locals are friendly towards western expats, and the only dangerous aspects are the roads (but if you drive like the locals, you are probably safer than doing your "defensive driving" bit). Living is fairly cheap - it depends who is going to pay for your accommodation, as decent apartments can be a little expensive.

As for life, well, the country is officially 'dry', and social life can be a little restricted, unless you meet up with others of your own nationality: if you intend bringing your wife, it could be boring for her here unless she finds work.

If you are employed by the Police Air Wing, they work pretty civilised hours, although you could find yourself doing early starts for much of the time, but it is generally a 5-day week here. The senior guys are a pretty fair bunch of blokes.

Temperatures here? Well, at the moment, it is 40 degrees at mid-day (it was 50 a month or so ago), but with relatively low humidity: during the winter, it will drop to around 20 centigrade at mid-day: however, vehicles and houses are air-conditioned, so it is not too much of a problem.

All in all, Kuwait is probably one of the more relaxed locations in the Gulf, and I still enjoy working here (well, most of the time, anyway).
