APSD Interview

I was in Amman few days ago and i had long wanted to check out this company; APSD is conducting Type rating + Line training for fresh pilots

They currently operate 2 A310 and not sure how many 733s in Alexandria are available but Mr. Maher of APSD advised the A310 is easier because the sim and aircrafts are in Amman

The TR + 250 hours on type costs you 100K USD, you pay 50% (can be divided into installments over the period of training) and the remainder will be deducted off your salary, you will have to sign bond of 5 years and if you leave any earlier; you must pay the balance of what you owe

License conversion is your responsibility and that could take up to 3 months along with security clearance, type rating on the A310 is available monthly and is conducted at Amman, this can also take up to 3 months\

Then its 3 - 4 months to complete the 250 hours line training

During this 9 - 10 months you will get NO PAY, NOTHING!

Then Jordan aviation will take you in as Junior FO; your pay will be 1000USD only and it will remain so until you accumulate 500 hours on type; then your pay goes up to 3750USD gross (deduct tax 250USD, Company bond 1250USD) so you end up with a couple of thousand dollars; that's all

The APSD GM explained further and further; eventually i worked it out to be working 5 years for free; ie: you save nothing but hours on A310; but all what you earn is going to equal what you spend on training and living (226000USD gross earning = 226000US expenses)

To me; and this is strictly my personal opinion; i am fed up with paying and paying and paying endlessly; i am flying a nice EFIS turbo-prop at the moment and 3400+ hours in my logbook; not so much flying; but the pay is going in anyways so i considered the Jordan Aviation deal some sort of a rip off; maybe its ok for new pilots but not for me

Thanks
