Why an insult?
Perhaps REX is aware of the very successful Qantas Cadet scheme of the 1960s and 1970s, many of those graduates now being very senior Qantas captains? Some stayed, some moved on to other airlines, most gained invaluable command experience in PNG. I'm sure REX is aware of the need for command experience?
Appears to be a very worthwhile and successful long term investment for any airline and opens up another career path for airline entry.
