The last thing that I wanted to do was spoil a well respected persons retirement party, but . . . . there has been a LTN/STN competition for many years (I fondly remember the response when I rang my mate in BY shortly after 'the' announcement of Londons Third Airport!) and all I was trying to point out was logistically STN had the edge by a long shot, there was never any other choice! 2 mile long runway with good access v 1.3 mile long runway perched on top of a hill, you work it out! and by the way I don't work for BAA, I'm just a realist.
