Let's do recall how GPS was accepted by a certain operator when it was mandated by the Nigerian government......"....some bloody Yank military thing...we may have to install it but when they go U/S...we won't bother ourselves repairing them!"

The concept of "helicopter air ways....IP's and/or RP's based upon GPS data" was first broached way back in the early 90's.

Heck....I remember the response from one fellow when the simple concept of using a half mile offset track to avoid nose to nose situations when two aircraft were using the same track but going in opposite directions. It was something along the line of "The customer would not accept the extra flying time....translated from "Not invented here!".

It sounds like it has not happened yet.
