Always an optimist I was very saddened indeed to hear the news about Rad.
Rad and I joined Gulfair in '74 when we were on the same F27 course at the Fokker factory in AMS. I stumbled across our course photograph the other day oddly enough - a couple of fresh faced boys surviving on a diet of boiled eggs as I remember correctly.
During the time I knew him, until I left GF in '86, I was always amused by his arrid sense of humour - somewhat drier than the Rub al'Khali! We flew together on a number of occasions, on the Friendship and Tristar, and you could always guarantee a social time with Rad onboard.
Always a reliable team player he stayed the distance in GF and went on to mentor many young pilots over many years. He served the airline for a faithful 33 years by my reckoning. A remarkable feat.
The sky has reclaimed forever a true aviator of the old school..
Blue skies and scattered cu Rad.
