The main civilian schools I can think of for you to break into

I would contact CSE at Oxford , and the likes of Bristol, Kingston and Newcastle as they do Training as well as Perth in Scotland ......... see

http://www.newcastleaviation.co.uk/consortium.htm

http://www.perthairport.co.uk/aboutperthairpor.html

This is the flying side of the one at Oxford, but they should be able to help regards the Engineering part

http://www.oxfordaviation.net/

also http://www.lrtt.co.uk/

Good luck, do not know the pay rates...... as you are an Engine Trade have you not considered trying for your licences? You will need to prove work on Aircraft not bay work though, I was a Sumpy too and did, I have / hold an A and C now ( A is Airframes and C is logically Engines )

Do the RAF not re-employ as civilian instructors?

ok place to look for jobs for you and there are a couple of pages

is

http://www.aviationjobsearch.com selecrt in the job cat menu training/ instructors..
