I was up with a mate in a lighty the other day and the tower declared a full emergency for an N registered Malibu with comms failure.
Yeah, I was out on the deck at the aero club when that was going on. I saw him do a low pass down the runway with gear down. I assumed it was for the tower to check that the gear looked down. I didn't realise there was a comms failure involved as well. He landed Ok and taxied straight over to the local maintenance hangar.
My kids thought it was quite exciting to see four fire appliances and an ambulance standing by with lights flashing.
