Montmeilleur is a fabulous destination, but it's a one-way strip. It is most definitely not somewhere to go unless you are entirely happy about landing in 500m, usually with a tailwind, and with no chance of going around. And the density altitude is often well over 5000ft in summer.
If you want an unforgettable experience, try the
Chateau de Bagnols. The accommodation is superb, the restaurant has a Michelin star, the building, contents and gardens are all stunning, and it is about 3 minutes from Villefranche Tarare airfield (LFHV), about 20 miles NW of Lyon. Not cheap, but worth it.
