PMR if you are concerned about the time away from your young family then I wouldn't even consider joining up as a crewman or any of the Wsop cadre.
Why? because getting shot at regurlarly in a sandy, dusty ****hole for the next 12 years wouldn't be that inviting to me with a new and young family to look after.
Even if you take away the danger factor, you will spend on average at least four or five months OOA (dusty dump) every year!
That may not bother you and the excitement of being in a hostile environment may be what you are after
, if it's not then I suggest look elsewhere.
