Cessnarocket, I whole heartedly agree with you!!! But people don't tend to follow the number crunching side of the industry. EI as you have said is not government owned it has share holders.
But I'am very interested as to why the churchs' are starting to get involved. You cannot force an airline to do anything (The one and only thing I like abt the EU) . If these people were very much intwinned with the industry they would realise airlines chase profit, then pick up leisure market pax to fill the numbers and take away from competitors!!!
