Mid 60s AA aircraft with rear 1st class lounge?
Folks, I am trying to clear up a fading memory I have of flying in an American Airlines plane as a 6 yr old in 1965, and wonder if I am confusing fact with fiction. Can anyone tell me if American flew an aircraft which was configured with a rear first class lounge, and if so what was this aircraft? I have this recollection of sitting on a bench type sofa around a table, and being able to lean over and watch the countryside zip by behind us out of a rear facing window. I am not certain that it was American Airlines, but the flight was from NY (La Guardia, I believe) to Memphis, Tn in the summer of 65, and it was not a jet.
