Gareth..

Sadly, I am the remaindered king of British military aviation historians. The first book "Twice Vertical - the history of No 1 (Fighter) Squadron" was written in 1970 when I was still trying to get to grips with the Harrier. My boss Ken Hayr sent me on leave to finish the book after I had 3 minor crunches in as many days; we were in danger of running out of jets! It sold about 4000 copies before being remaindered, but bought me a wonderful Austin Healey 3000. After I left the RAF I re-wrote it in 1982 to encompass the Falklands and add a few more piccies. It was after that we cooked up the idea of "From the cockpit" with Simon Forty of Ian Allen. He tried to get me to write a computer game along the same lines, but I knew there was no future in computer games in 1983 so then lapsed into the obscurity I so richly deserve.....
