It was a
Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) visit. Brize is an annual event, but this was the first time I'd been able to go. They arrange visits to all sorts of places of aviation interest.
Guild members are predominantly professional/ex-professional pilots - a good mix of Mil and civvy, with many famous names amongst the Test Pilots - but it's open to all pilots including PPLs. It's the most interesting and enjoyable group of aviators I've ever encountered. I've only been a member a few years, but wish I'd joined years ago.
