staff travel

Hi guys!

About staff travel wiz EK, well, I have to say that the company that I was working for before joining EK was far more generous:
apart from the minimum benefits as ID90/50, zed tickets and immediate family there were some agreements wiz other airlines for ID100, companion tickets for friends, interline discounts, etc..., and I'm not talking about small airlines, I'm referring to AF, KL, BA, AZ, NW, CO, etc...,

Have you ever tried to get a jumpseat on a full EK flight???
Have you ever been upgraded to c/class???
Have you ever got a decent discount on interline packages???
Have you ever got a companion ticket (similar to ID90) for any of your friends wiz EK?

Most of the airlines will upgrade you straight away on the ground if Y/class is overbooked, and most of other airline's pursers will put you on C/class if you introduce yourself at the plane's door and there's space available, and the most important, most of the airlines would do anything to get you on the flight, specially if you are operating on the next day. Personally I've never seen that on EK.

I still remember travelling from fra to vie by train (it took me the whole night plus 120 EUR) because EK was full at fra and I was working the next day. In such circumstances any other airline would have given me even a toilet seat. Plus I paid another 30 eur at vie for reissuing my id90. All for nothing, because a few days later I was told by EY staff that they would have accepted my EK id90 at fra!!.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that the ek's package is a bad deal, I'm saying that it can be improved and the company policy regarding staff travel might be more generous.

Cheers!
