I think your last sentance may sum up the situation.
Until there is a planning application/official announcement, only those directly involved will know what the reality is. Until then, everything is just speculation/rumour/hearsay/enthusiasm* (delete as appropriate). There are two facts that are in the public domain:

1. Bridgepoint plan to invest 70m over a number of years
2. As per the YEP article earlier in the week they plan to extend the terminal by 1000sq m.

That is all that is evident in news/official articles.
Until there is something official from Bridgepoint, then I think it is better to wait for that to be able to congratulate/dismiss the plans.

Likewise with the Jet2 767 and NYC rumours, the only thing in the public domain is from Dart's statement of accounts..."looking at larger aircraft". I'm missing a few bits of the jigsaw:

1. Official announcement from Dart to it's shareholders
2. Advertisement for crew/engineers
3. Application for route licences with the US authorities

Again unless powers in the inner circle have all this tied up awaiting for the big day for an announcement (perhaps Monday as per Robo's post) , one has to assume it is hearsay until such announcement is made.
