The student would have been at a level to fly solo circuits, and he would have been prepared to either go-around in a standard fashion, in the same way that he would have been prepared for unusual eventualities such as an engine failure after take-off.
If every possible eventuality had to be taught, especially those out of your control, nobody would hold a licence.
