Hang on Guv, You got me thinking there.
Last time I flew to US from LON, we flew
over Scotland didn't we? - something about "not taking a straight line 'cos great circles are shorter than straight lines" I think they said.
So Scotland is
closer to US than LON, but it costs more 'cos you have to go "the other way" first
So how come the Scots Nats are not up in arms about this? Why should citizens of the new Independant State of Ecosse not be able to fly to US direct, but have to pay money to
England's soon-to-be-privatised Airports Authority to "stop over"
PS - If we meet again at the proposed Brighton Bash, we can discuss this further over a beer or seven
