TASMAN MOTORSPORT JETS INTO DARWIN WITH AIRNORTH

Greg Murphy and Jason Richards' Tasman Motorsport Holden VE Commodores will fly the Airnorth banner during this weekend's SKYCITY Triple Crown in Darwin.

The arrangement, part of the team's segmented sponsorship program, coincides with the arrival of Airnorth's new 74-seat Embraer E170 Regional Jet.

Headquartered in Darwin, Airnorth is Northern Australia's major regional airline, flying 152 weekly services to six domestic and two international destinations including, Maningrida, Gove, Groote Eylandt, Kununurra WA, Broome WA, Dili East Timor and Kupang, Indonesia.

Due to start regular services to Kununurra, Broome, McArthur River and Perth in early September the E170 will see Airnorth's passengers enjoying the benefits of new generation technology, ergonomic design with increased passenger comfort in seating and interior design.

Richards said Airnorth's support meant Tasman would feel at home in the Top End.

"We are going into this weekend excited as a team we've gone quite well at Hidden Valley in the past and this year we've got the support of Darwin's own Airnorth," Richards said.

"Traditionally, Hidden Valley has been a circuit that's hard on tyres, requiring good chassis balance and, with its long straight, lots of power.

"This year, Murph and I have brand new VE Commodores and more grunt under the bonnet.

"We've had pace at most of the rounds this year, though we've struggled over long distances. We're throwing everything we can at the cars and ideally, we'd like to have a set-up that has both the pace and comfort of Airnorth's new E170. We'd be sure of a result then!"

Practice for the SKYCITY Triple Crown takes place this Friday, with qualifying and Race 1 Saturday followed by Races 2 and 3 Sunday.
