I'm doing my type rating with bmi at the moment. I'm a new pilot, 3 weeks groundschool, 2.5 weeks sim. Same for all four of us on the course.
FCOMs are huge but you're not expected to know it all!! Obviously they are in the flight deck for reference during every flight for real. The CBT which is via GCAT, took 2 weeks to go through covering every system. There is then a further week of M&B and Perf. before the sim begins back with the airline.
(No I'm not paying for it and neither should any of you)
