Until the arrival of Blue Danube, Red Beard
et-al in the 1950's, the UK could only act as the USAF's unsinkable aircraft carrier and the article above shows the limitations to the late 1940's nuclear strategy, despite the despatch of 90 USAF B-29's to the UK as a sort of deterrence.
