In my eyes its a classic exmaple of the fat cats at the top wanting more cash for doing as little as possible! Ie trying to cram in as many flights as possible with poor facilities and seeing if they can get away with it!
Somthing will give if basic needs are not met.
spending money on operational resources such as fuel tankers and employees and a suitable air traffic control unit would be a good place to start! The guys in the tower do a cracking job considering the resources they have, One radar guy with one screen! Even he has said its a joke.
As far as the GA situation goes well it will be just like southampton. No one will have the balls to get up and say ' ok lads/lasses its time you left for pastures new, we need the space' they will just keep pumping up prices, landing fees, handling fess etc up up and up!
