It's arguably better than IE, but it uses the same Windows engine, so its prome to all the same foibles and insecurities as IE.

Try Opera - http://www.opera.com/ - which really IS fast, also free and has an excellent built-in email client.

And if you _really_ want something small and fast, try OffByOne - http://offbyone.com/offbyone/
