I don't remember the exact figures, but recall that some months ago a number of posters on PPRuNe ME pointed out that CX had around a third as many flightcrew again as Emirates employ to operate pretty much the same number of aircraft, i.e. CX have around 2300 crew to operate 100+ aircraft. Presumably the implications of these figures (if true) will not be lost on you with regard to comparisons of workload and fatigue management between EK and CX.

Care to expand on your comment about magic money? Word on the street is that Dubai has a drip feed from Abu Dhabi. Whether that is a good or bad thing I wouldn't know.
