Antonr, I believe that your supposition is correct. Although it is suupsedly a level playing field when you apply for a commission whether you are serving or not there are swings and roundabouts.
Against it the fact that the RAF gets to see the real you for far longer and may thus decide you are not commissionable. On the other hand you will gain greater insight and maturity and may have the benefit of a commissioning club (on many stations). You will certainly be ableto get first hand advice.
