I got it twice last week - once on final for 16R (YSSY) and again coming in from the West a few days later??? Does any action actually get taken against these people??? In the bigger scheme of things this is fairly low risk (anything below a Class 3B laser will not have a significant, lasting effect - most pointers are 3A or lower and cannot cause permanent damage before the blinking mechanism protects the eye), but all it takes is for it to happen just when other problems are stacking up (perhaps for a single pilot?) and disaster looms!
If this is idiots out for a hoot, bring back public floggings! If it's amateur astronomers or anyone else, I don't think it takes a degree in astrophysics to understand that shining bright lights up into a major flight path might not be in the public interest.
