The chap running the sim will also use this technique to distract you just as you are about to do something important e.g. just as you are changing altimeter subscale or perhaps intercepting the localiser. Be ready for it and BOTH of you cross-check eachother. Obviously, he'll only expect the answer from the chap he has asked but just make sure neither of you has been seroiusly distracted from something vital.
