From where we sit, it seems that those issuing the 160 to 4 do not understand that in a modern (slippery) aircraft with a low V App, being flown to modern SOPs (you
must be stable at 1000') you simply cannot comply with this instruction.
Some guys try and help by flying 10 knots fast for a couple of miles, to "equalise" the effect of the early slow down. Just so you know...
