Safety issues? Well I guess the word safety doesn't mean a lot down there. The airport (and the city...) are on the black list. ATC, navaids, com, rwy lighting, all unreliable. Weather can also be quite a challenge.
Crew and ground staff, locals? If yes, then beware... imported staff (expats), then expensive...
Local issues, customs? If you have the $$$$ then you can do anything.
Hotels, if you can afford it, the best bet is the Sheraton which is like an oasis in this place and quite close to the airport. Good beer in the Goodies
Places to go out, the Alibaba (good luck
), the Crocodile and some others.
