However in general I think one can give advice while stating the limits of it e.g. it is based on the apparent situation.
Returning to this case, I believe it is possible to dissolve a partnership without spending money. It's a simple legal process - just like forcing the sale of a house if the people sharing it don't get along anymore. Any partner can force a liquidation and
AFAIK there is no defence (short of dependent persons, which I can't see would apply to a plane).
