This theory is nothingh but nonsense. The Russians actually managed to retrieve debris from the floor of the ocean. They published a lot of photos which clearly show parts of the shot-down airliner. Of course I am aware that photos can be doctored. However one of the pics for example shows two units of a Surge Tank Protection System (STPS). This was a special-purchase item for the 747s and only a few aircraft had the thing installed. The Korean aircraft was MSN 20559, a Boeing 747-230B, originally delivered to Condor. And LH is one of the few airlines to have ordered the STPS. "It is exceedingly unlikely that the Soviets had either knowledge or the materials required to have faked a photograph of such an out-of-the-way bit of equipment like this" (quote from: The Wake of the Flying Crane, by R.W.
