The guy who did my line training showed me how he coped. It was gear down, full flap and a very small and barely perceptable sideslip! It worked and I used it subsequently. However, be aware that on swept wing aircraft, The secondary roll effect of rudder is very very powerful, so you use a tiny amount of rudder and quite a lot of aileron.
