Re the question a few posts up about
"weather balloons on static lines"
I know there are "weather balloons" (radiosondes?), and I know there are tethered balloons, because I once jumped out of one, but.............

Is there such a thing as a tethered weather balloon, or one "on a static line"?

It sounds unlikely to me.
