two friends of mine have more than 1000 hrs TT + the A320 rating...airlines in India ask them hours on type (which they don't have)...so don't believe because you pay for a rating you will get the job. On the other hand I have the A320 rating and I am presently flying with about 300 hrs on type (900 hrs TT), but now the same airlines ask me to contact themonce I reach the 500 hours on type....
