Think I have to agree with you newbie 008. I quite recently finished the course in Jerez and I have no science A Level and no Maths A Level and was therefore unable to apply to these "approved schemes". It made absolutely no difference to my time in Jerez whatsoever, nor to my subsequent employment.
I think it is purely a mechanism to reduce the number of applications to a manageable level, which doesn't seem very fair.
