If you have a rental car, I highly recommend the
Hotel at Old Town. There is a brew pub and several good restaurants nearby. My favorite is Old Chicago; good pizza and beer. Go for the "Hazed and Infused." Free Internet too.
Next choice is the
Hyatt Regency Wichita. Get the Spicy Cowboy steak at the bar. You won't regret it. Note the America's Cup sailboat across the street, and the boatload of irony to go with it. A nice walking/running path along the river is a nice touch.
Both of these hotels are a short
5 minute drive East on Kellogg.
Having said that, DO NOT stay at the Four Points Sheraton.
It's a dump. Oh, and if the above are not in your budget (although they are usually reasonable unless there is a convention there) you can also do good at the
Candlewood Suites. It's nearby a shopping center and a nice way to "settle in" if you want to cook your own food.
