Connect punctuality was always better than mainlines as they did not use acars which helped with departure times....
Not sure how much experience of ACARS you have, but have you never heard that once the door closes, just releasing the park brake, and holding on the toes, sends an ACARS off chocks message?
The park brake can then be re-applied for as long as you need to stay on stand!

With regard to punctuality...let's not forget Connect's little wheeze of 'pushing and holding'.
If you aren't familiar with 'push and hold', and the reasons for it, I'm guessing (if you're a pilot at all!) you work at "Sleepy Hollow International Airport"!
