I did this a couple of times from a SAR Wessex.
From memory, for legal reasons, we had to be outside the 3 or 12 mile limit ( memory shot
) The ashes were wrapped in parcels of damp tissue paper to prevent blowback and we carried a Minister to do the scattering.
Always told ATC that we were getting airborne with 5 souls on board gradually becoming 4
