Fuel at Redhill? Time to taxi...

To all users of Redhill who might, like I nearly was today, be caught out...

Avgas can currently only be obtained by repositioning to the tower helipads, and no longer by telephoning the refuellers to come out to the aircraft. Initially I believe this was due to a problem with the fuel truck but it seems to have become a permanent arrangement. Bear in mind that the helicopter needs to be positioned carefully to the south edge of the pad in order for the fuel line to reach, and if there is another heli being refuelled it is worth waiting for rotor start rather than a lengthy wait with the engine running for an empty spot (as one of the guys discovered the other day...). It is also worth bearing in mind that the planks are also refuelling there so a queue can form...

Just for info, in case it affects anyone else here

(not sure if the arrangements for Jet A1 have changed)
