I think this is where current and valid, come into play.
Not any more. JAR-FCL says, quite clearly, that a 'valid' MEIR is a pre-entry requirement for the first MPA type rating course. It also says, quite clearly, that an IR is 'valid' for 12 months. Even the UK CAA has, at long last, come into line on this one - there is no longer any distinction between 'valid' and 'current'. To start a first MPA type rating course, you must have passed an IR Skill Test or Proficiency Check within the preceding 12 months.
