Why would you redress the Stn Cdr? It's not his fault. Don't know how high you'd have to go to find where the buck stopped.

You've actually made the point for me - it's not the Stn Cdr's fault, so he/she ought not to take it personally. As you correctly state, you don't know how high you'd have to go to find where the buck stops; going to the Staish means that you should get a reasonably quick response, and I think that, as long as the complaint is justified, the next stop should be the JPA and eventually the person in charge of the whole debacle (it was an admiral when I did it). At some point your problem may even get sorted!

I think the other thing I would advise is to talk to the Staish beforehand; however, I appreciate that may be rather easier for a pilot on the Sqn than the SAC working on the line - and it also depends on the Staish of course!
