IMHO, you're about 2500 short of practical miniumums for a DEFO position.

We have 6000 hour S/O's in HKG with heavy time, and DEFO's with 4000 hours + and 1000 PIC on light jets or T/P's.

You will spend at least two months (perhaps more) in HKG on induction training and will return to HKG regularly on line trips and RT/PC's (semi-annually). Command training is also done in HKG, although it will be a while before you are either up to speed on the B744 or understand Cathay's complex FOM's to give command a serious try. Cathay expect a high standard of technical knowledge and a demonstrated high standard of ability. The command course is NOT a "no jeopardy" manoevre. Caveat Emptor.

No harm in trying, good luck to you.
