Many of these routes were already announced. It seems airlines now rehash new route announcements over and over again.
Budget's Cork Corfu charter was recently hailed as a new route in the local media even though it was in their 2007 brochure when it was launched last July.
On the positive side there are now 3 airlnes showing a very strong interest in operating direct US services from Cork in 2008. The CAA has now to decide which one is most likely to succeed before it comes up with the neccessary marketing support.
Let's hope those advocating direct flights will support them if they materialise. Cork people have been driving to SNN for generations to travel to US and may continue to do so in order to save a few dollars for the shopping in Manhatten. I can hear the lame excuses already.
