converting CPL(a) to CPL(h)

Hi,

I have 500 hours single engine time and PPL on light aircraft and looking looking into starting again with helicopters to get CPL(h) and eventually IR on helicopters.

Is it more economical to go for a CPL/Multi IR on fixed wing first and then convert to helicopters ? Is there some sort of bridging course that can be done which is less than having to start from scratch on helicopters again. If I can do all the ATPL fixed wing exams and then just do another couple of exams to convert to helicopters it may make more sense as I then end up with a fixed wing frozen ATPL as well as CPL(h).

Thanks for the advice.
